Amy Beamer Human Resources

I think Human resources would be a really fun job. You don't need to spend ridiculous amounts of time in post secondary education. Also I like working with and helping people which is basically all human resources is.I have a job right now, and where I work we don't have a Human Resources Person. In my eyes my work is very corrupt and I think it would help employee relations a lot if we had a Human Resources Personelle. So that's why I'm very interested in being in the Human Resources field.

Ann Liebau, Midwife

I think being a midwife would be a really cool, rewarding job. They said that one of the most beautiful things is human birth. So if you like to be around babies or mothers giving birth then you should definitely look into this job. I liked how they brought the dolls in to show how it all goes down. I was surprised when I asked if there were any male Midwifes and they said there were! Would they be called midwives? Or mid-husbands?

Scott Wahl VP of RIM

I think that being the VP of any company let alone RIM would be very stressful. There is so much that you are responsible for a and it have to do. Like they say, with great power comes great responsibility. You have to be very responsible and set good examples for your employees. I don't really think I would be interested in Being a VP at RIM despite all the so called perks you get.

Jenn, Environmental Science Prof.

I think that being an environmental science professor would be a very hard job. It takes a lot of education to become a professor. That costs a lot of money to do all of the schooling. Also it takes a long time until you actually land a permanent job as a professor. however once you do, you would typically stay there for a really long time. I think it would be rewarding to teach kids about the environment and what they can do to make a difference.

Sidney Maclean, Lawyer

Sidney came to our class to talk about being a crown attorney. They are the lawyers in court that are trying to convict the person who has been sentenced. I eas very fascinated on the stuff she was talking about. I learned about the two different types of court. I learned about all the hard things they have to go through and how long it takes to become a lawyer. Being a lawyer is a job that really interests me. I think that it would be hard to achieve but once you got the job it would be very rewarding.

Melissa Durell

I really liked Melissa. She was really enjoyable to have. She was a really good speaker and it was really east to pay attention. She had a really positive attitude. I thought it was cool how she shared the story that made her want to become a journalist. I think it would be really cool to be a journalist because you would get to go to really cool places and report news. After Melissa came to speak it made me really want to take english in university and become a journalist.

Ken North Firefighter

I really enjoyed having my dad come in to speak for the class. I think his job is really cool and lots of people really dont know what firefighters actually do. I reaally liked how he askes the class what he thought they did and wrote all the stuff on the board then went over it for everyone. However I thought it would have been really cool if he had brought in props and showed everyone all the eqquipment and how it works.

Which Party Would I Vote For

If I was 18 I would vote for NDP. I like the New Democratic Party because they seem to care more about everyone. When we took the test I got left of center. NDP is a very left leaning group. They aren't based on religion and they have more freedoms than the liberals and conservatives. This is why i would vote for NDP if I could vote.

Texting Ted Talk

I recently watched the ted talk about texting. It talked about how they ran a company that helped schools with campaigns. At first they would contact the students via email. Then they switched to texting and the found it much more effective, in the way that students actually replied and more students got involved. But then they started getting students texting them about their problems. So they decided to make another hotline for distressed text messages. I think this is very helpfull because teens feel a lot more comfrotable and I think that a lot more problems will get talked about or solved with this texting hotline.

V for Vendetta

I really loved the movie V for Vendetta. I thought it was really cool how one person can have such a big impact on one country. One of the themes of the movies is Government. I've been really thinking about the movie and the government. One of the things I came to realize is that there is no best form of government. I mean no matter what way people rule a country, there's always going to be a group of people that are un happy. For example if you had a total didcatorship, the leader could be a total ass and nobody would like him. But if you had a pure democracy, some people may make stupid decisions and a group of people would be unhappy. However both of my examples are polar opposites. So maybe somewhere in the middle would work? I really don't know.

KCI Outreach

I'm planning on taking the KCI outreach course next year and I am really looking forward to it. I like the whole aspect of helping third world countries. I mean we have so much money and they have so little. It doesn't seem fair that we have so much money to waste on things and they barely have enough to live off of. I'm really looking forward in helping out in Chile and locally too. People often overlook that there are also very poor people locally too.

FFP

I really enjoy being in the course. There is not much that I would change. I like that we have the freedom to choose what we do for our projects. It's very assuring that you can choose because you know that you won't have to do a really boring project or a project that you don't understand.

How Do Men and Women Love

I think women love differently then men because men are a lot more simple then men. Women's love is different because they like all the small intimate things that men don't understand or see. When a guy loves a girl he just wants to spend time with her, he doesn't care what their doing he justs wants to be with her. Girls want it to be romantic and like they always had dreamed of, but what they don't realize is the most romantic thing for a guy is spending time with his love regardless of whether or not it's "romantic" or not.

Music

To me music is a way of getting away. When life gets hard nothing feels better than tuning out the world and listening to say some Nirvana while you just forget about all your troubles. When your happy and life is going good then it's fun to listen to some warm happy music. Making and listening are the best things to express your feelings

I hate it how just cause I'm a teenager everybody thinks I'm bad. Whenever I got into a corner store or something with my friends they follow us around to make sure we're not stealing or they will make us take off our bags at the front. I feel like I've been labeled just because of my age and it's not fair.

dude, let us sleep

I think that sleeping in msip should be allowed. Msip is a period where you can do your homework and get caught up. But when you are done all your work there is nothing to do. Whenever I'm done all my work I just like to rest and lay my head down, but then I get yelled at! you need the most amount of sleep when you are a teenager. Since most people in highgschool are teens, let us sleep in msip if all our work is done.

Grand River Hospital

I think it's really low that the staff at the hospital made those videos. The people there that are ill can't help that they're that way. And it is deffinetely unacceptable for the staff to make fun of them. In my opinion all the staff held responsible should be fired.

French in Highschools

I still think we should have to learn French in highschool. Regardless of the history behind Canada, fact of the matter is we are still right beside the french speaking Quebec. So it's beneficial to know french for visiting. Also it's one of our National languages. I know that in the Southern States they have to learn Spanish because they are so close to Mexico. So it makes sense that we learn french.

Peter Braid Visists KCI

I kind of feel bad saying this but I have to admit when Peter Braid spoke at KCI, some of the things he said made me lose some respect. Well not really what he said but more or less what he didn't say. Whenever someone brought up a question he didn;t know the answer he would just ramble on about something else or change the subject. The same goes for when someone said something he didn't agree with.

Carrie Snyder

I think it was really inspirational to meet Carrie Snyder. She wrote a book about a child whose parents went to Africa to protest a war. and it's really cool because she was that child. I think stories are even better when they are stories that actually happened to the story teller. I think being a writer is a very hadr job. You have to be very creative! Also you  have to a have a lot of patience because it's a very long porcess writing and publishing a book. From my understanding it is somewhat hard to make a living from Writing unless you  are really good.

Are People Good Or Evil?

I think that people are generally good. I just think that people make stupid rules and we're expected to abide them. if people break rules they aren't bad people. For example we have a rule in our school where you can't eat in specific hallways. People still do eat in the hallways but it doesn't make them evil. Yeah sure there may be a few bad seeds in the mix but the majority of people are not Evil.

KONY 2012

I personally think this whole thing about Kony is really stupid. People are making such a big deal about it on Facebook or whatever just because it makes them feel like they are doing good. I hate to break it to you but making a Facebook post about Kony is not going to stop him. Also people that are making a big deal about this are really un-educated. They don't even know where Uganda is on a map. All I'm trying to say is that if your going to make suc a huge deal about this than at least find out some information on it.

Victory Laps

Victory laps are very important an should not be scrapped. It can be very useful for students who need that extra year to boost their marks for university, or get more experience in courses they want to take in university or college. However some students take advantage of the extra free year of education and stay the year for pure pleasusre. If the government is so worried about the cost of students taking a fifth year then they should only allow those who have a legeitimate reason to stay. If you want to stay for enjoyment then maybe there will be a fee involved.

Teens Ask Strangers To Judge Them

 I think it's really stupid that people post picture on the internet and ask people to rate them. To me it's just pathetic people looking for attention. The worst part is the A**holes that spend all day on the internet to "troll" people. all this does is make people feel bad and self conscious about themselves. People post pictures and have rude comments of their pictures from people they don't even know! They will say something terrible that can have a long term affect! for example say someone is self concsious about their weight posts a picture and someone says they look over weight. That comment might be the last straw to someones self Consciousness and make them become annorexic and have to deal with life long self esteem issues.

In my oppinion everybody is so beautiful in their own way. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about you all that matters is that every time you look in the mirror you are happy with the person you see looking back at you.

Bicycles.

I think that the rider of a bicylce should have the say in whether they get to wear a helmet or not. If they want to risk falling and getting a head injury then that's what they choose. If they are in a city event that involves bicycles, they should have to wear a helmet or sgin a waiver so the city cannot be held responsible if they get an injury.

Lit. Circle books

My top two book choices are The Glass Castle and Slaughter House Five. My first choice is Glass Castle, a book about a a kid that has to grow up with immensely wacky parents. I think this book will be interesting because some things might be able to be related to families I know. that's why I chose this book, to see it's overall realtivity to my Life.

My second choice was Slaughter House 5. A book about a man who gets abducted by aliens. Then he keeps changing to different places he wasn't expectedto go to. This book appealed to me because it was a sci-fi book. I like reading Sci-Fi books because it's always fun to see what life could be like. It's cool to just get away and read a book that makes your immagination run wild.

Young Ambitions.

When I was little I wanted to be a firefighter when I grew up. My dad is a firefighter and he is really inspirational. I have always really liked the idea of helping others out. This is why I wanted to be a firegifhter when I grew up.

Celebrities

I think it's an awesome thing when celebrities use their fame and powere to raise money for charities. Lots of celebrities are selfish and keep the money they earn and spend it on stuff they don't need. Like a new car every month. When celebrities donate their money to foundations or use their fame to help make an orginization really popular.

Ted Talk: Three A's of Awesome

I think that the speaker in the Three A's of Awesome was way to optimistic. He treated his life like it was not okay to have any sad emotions or thoughts. It's totally understandtable for a human being to get upset about things. Especially if the thing that's upsetting them is a friend commiting suicide or your wife leaving you. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be really optimistic, I'm just saying that everybody feels sad at times and you shouldn't try to hide it with a cover.

Exoctic pets should be legal!

       Exotic animals should be legal anywhere as long as the owner of the pet takes proper care of the pet.If someone wants to have a n exotic animal as a pet, they should be allowed to if they house it, feed it and take care of it properly.If they cannot be taken care of properly, then the animal should be taken away. This should also be the same rule for all pets and animals regardless if they're exotic or not.

Keep Abortions Legal

        I think that abortions should be legal. However, I also think they should be used as a last resort.If a young couple gets pregnant and they do no want a child yet, they should have the freedom to do what they want before the baby is born. They should try to see if there is a family that is willing to a dopt the baby before they have an abortion. The government and abortion clinics should encourage young couples to seek for a fimaly for a doption before getting an abortion.
